In summertime, there are pools and lakes in the area - Lac de la Cavayere is just 5 kms from Carcassonne and River Aude runs close to the city centre - ideal for picnics and relaxing.

Or you might prefer visiting the numerous abbeys and CATHAR CASTLES. Go walking or cycling on the endless kilometres of dirt tracks and country lanes.

Carcassonne is a "must visit" city - visited second only to Paris in France - it boasts the magnificent medieval walled city and then "Lower Carcassonne" which is a grid town.

Of course the market - the Canal du Midi - cafes and restaurants and further afield the delights of the Cathar country - of the circular villages - longer trips on the Canal du Midi and mountains

Ryanair fly into Carcassonne from several locations in the UK. Other airlines fly into Toulouse which is just 1 hour from Carcassonne.
